Emergency Care Services

Trident Health System offers 24-hour emergency care at Trident, Summerville, Colleton, and Moncks Corner Medical Centers. Trident's Level II Emergency Department sees more than 40,000 patients annually, while Summerville, designated as a Level III Emergency Department, sees 28,000 patients annually. Moncks Corner Medical Center, which opened in May of 2001, sees 12,000 patients annually.

Trident also functions as a Level III Trauma Center. All three emergency departments employ board-certified emergency medicine physicians, with 24-hour availability of radiologists, subspecialty physicians and lab personnel for diagnostic procedures.

Typical patients range from those with chest pain, trauma, or abdominal pain to those with headaches or stroke. Emergency Services at Trident and Summerville Medical Centers both offer "Fast Track" services for expedient care of patients less acutely ill; Chest Pain Observation Units, for fast and early diagnosis of heart disease; as well as advanced technology and expertise to treat severly injured and critically ill patients.

Moncks Corner Medical Center offers the only private ER suites in town, because we know an emergency is not always something you want to share.
